Kai has a stern yet loving nature. He may seem hard to approach at first but once you get to know him he actually is quite a big softie. He tends to his business a lot, sometimes forgetting his other duties, such as spending time on himself and what not. But he's working on that and is currently doing well to focus on other things besides work. he is very smart and knows a lot about medicine, so he takes pride in that. He's protective of his family, and if anyone were to ever hurt his family he'd go on a rampage most likely.

Before becoming captain he dated his ex-wife Xena. They met in a group where they dated for a while before marrying. She gave birth to two kids, one boy and one girl. His son's name is Malekio and his daughter's name is Nishtha. At some point he and his wife got a divorce where Kai soon entered Seireitei, and since he already had some schooling under hsi belt, he climbed the ranks of Division 4 until he reached the captain's spot. Even though divorced whenever his ex wife is stressed or upset he is there to comfort her, he's not that heartless to leave her on her own. He lives with his son in Seireitei and his daughter normally stays with her mother. He's been working on egtting close to his daughter again, since work took over a majority of his time.

His Zanpakuto element is lightning, and he loves just sitting outside on his porch during a thunderstorm. The sound of thunder and lightning soothes him when he's had a long day. He has a bad temper and one would be wise to avoid him when he's in a bad mood, he's been known to spark little volts of electricity when angry. He loves to cook and doesn't mind cooking for other people, for he has his own garden in his backyard. During the summer he is known to have small parties, just to socialize and meet all the other captains.
